The mind and body are a unity, they are not separate. By treating one you treat the other. In psychotherapy it often happens that a lot of ailments gradually stop recurring over time, once the underlying emotional conflict has been resolved.
A psychosomatic illness, is still very much an illness it tends to be the recurrence that has roots in the Psyche – it needs to be treated with respect, as a manifestation of a deep seated conflict or habit. An illness is just that and we would encourage exploration with a medical doctor in the first instance, if it is recurring, then perhaps an exploration with a therapist about the emotions your are currently having to manage more or less well.
